getting connected

I recently watched a video of Keats Elliott talking about connection with other photographers. It is just sweet when you have other photographers who are well advanced or even experienced than you, close together that can mentor you and help you as you grow in the photography field. I like that she is an advocate of helping one another who are in the same field even when each one has his/her business. Rather than be in competition, each one is helping one another grow in their business and their photography.

I plan that this year is all about being connected, whether to fellow photographers, or fellow small business owners, but also to really just anyone that will let you grow as a person, in your business, or in your craft. We can see this at its finest in the social networking revolution that is sweeping the net at the moment from facebook, twitter, flicker or even linkedIn. Although, I try to be sociable as much as I would want to be but balancing between social life and family life especially with little kids can get a little bit out of whack, as me and balancing have a friend-foe relationship, and I have had my share of black eyes from our scuffles in the past. One thing that do work with me is to write down my schedule and To-d0 list for the day. I have my normal routine right in front of me in my new office and that of course, includes the most part of spending time with my kids. I personally believe that kids grow so fast (so fast that without documenting your moments, you tend to forget) that I like to remember them when they are little and learning all about life. (This can be another post for another time).

What I am saying is connection is important. So start surrounding yourself with people that love and support you. (that’s me talking to myself  as well). So if you think I can help you in anyway, or you can help me, please let me know.

And of course, a post is not complete without a photo. Here is Josh helping his dad with some gardening job.
