a girly night

Well, as much as it’s not really just for girls night, I have so much fun enjoying the company of many good friends in Hedland as we got together at Matt Dan Cultural Centre and enjoy the overflowing champagne and yummy food as we prepare to see all the goodness of Morrison and Missy Von Lube. It was a Hollywood Fashion Gala, featuring Morrison as the designer and Missy Von Lube for the jewellery worn by the models.

I don’t get many chances on letting my hair down and enjoying a night with friends so it was a real treat to enjoy the night with friends, fashion, jewellery and food. What more can a girl ask for? Oh of course, I got some photos as well. I took the photos without any flash and just used the spotlight as well as making use of the beautiful and colourful lights around the stage.

Oh, Oh, the highlight of the night is of course when I got the Oscar for Supporting Business Award. And because I hardly ever go in front of the camera once I start shooting, here’s a photo of me with ‘Mr Oscar’, thanks to Lyn for the photo.

sporadic friday

As I sit here reflecting all that has happened in last few days, I begin to understand that there are days when they are long and they are days when they are short. I have had such a revelation in the last couple of days that it seems to overwhelm most times, but that is another post altogether.

It’s friday and usually I like to think that its going to be my creative friday but as I soak myself in all of domestic goodness, I reluctantly compel my mind to think of the things that make me smile for a change. So after the work is done, I lay down with a good book and immersed myself in another world.

I must admit I haven’t been really social at all since 2002 (and thats a long time). I mean I still do go out with friends but that is just really occasionally especially when you got two little kidlets that just keep you on your toes and leave you too tired by the end of the day, but most times, I do not mind staying at home and relaxing by night time. So most of my socialising is done online (which is all the fad these days).

Just a short note about me, when phones got popular (you know the big chunky (vintage) telephone with big round dial?), my friends always tell me that I am no fun to talk to because I really don’t talk too much (should remind that to hubby who keeps telling me to get off the phone). I really do like meeting people in person and interacting with them.

But with the hustle bustle of everyday life, a few minutes is all it takes for socialising so I recently joined the most popular social networks online and that is twitter and facebook, and because of these, I reconnected with lots of friends who I lost contact with for a long while and I am so thankful. Also, in the hope that these social network will help me connect with clients and friends alike. So I am adding a little something within my blog. This is just a trial so bear with me if things don’t go as planned. Try it out and see!

In the last two years I have been doing the P.H.otography Workshop here in Hedland put together by FORM and the Courthouse Gallery sponsored by BHP. Last year, I had the honour to be part of the advanced group of 10 photographers to benefit our professional photographers from around the country. I had photo opportunities that I wouldn’t have if doing it by myself, not that I have the time to leave the kids and go around town and take photos. So I have put a slideshow some of my favourite photos from the workshop. Enjoy!

falling behind for all the right reasons

The reason for over a month of inactivity here is because it is the month for family. If there is one month that is big in my family, that is October. Well, it usually starts earlier than that, with September celebrating our anniversary and then with the kids’ birthdays only a week apart, the house is buzzing with planning, preparing and having the party, and of course it goes for the whole month, finishing with my own birthday. Now, when you have a whole month of party at your place, the aftermath is also big including the mess, so though going back to routine has been slow and busy, things are starting to get back on track.

I did not have any shoots in October so I could give my whole concentration and time to my family, and for every birthday we celebrate, I realise that time does fly so quickly. Our kids grow too fast that before we know it, we lose the opportunity to share our life, our values, our experiences and our dreams with them in the time they need them the most. I make it a point that every chance I have, I will give them a piece of my life. I realise that while they are young, it is my wisdom, and my life experience to substitute their own that they need. We made a pact to give handmade presents this Christmas, to do 25 days of Christmas crafts, and to spend more time together.

While I don’t want to be too goofy and sentimental on you, I just want to give you the reason for my absense in blogland. Those two keep me up on my toes all the time and I love spending time with them.

So spend time with your family and kids and document the moments with photos. I have more a thousand photos of each of the kids, I could probably put a montage of their lives day by day. Keep snapping!

It’s not everyday I get to just post something for nothing, but I thought I can’t really just separate my business with my personal life because photography for me is personal, and as such I will share personal stuff here, just so you get a glimpse of what I am and what I do.

Currently I am swamped with work, thus not being able to post more and to be able to share more not just business but also personal stuff. My two kids take most of the time when not taking photos and editing them so in between really, doesn’t leave much for anything, so I can’t wait until the next holiday which is now in planning stage.

Oh, I enjoy reading the duck cartoon series so here is one that I think you would enjoy too. Have a great week!

You know the time when all you do is work, that you just need to divert yourself to something else especially something fun even just for a moment, just so, you know that you are still there. Well, I have been catching up with some work editing photos from session and after two full days of editing, I just had to stop and do something else. Well, I would have liked to say I did some sewing, but that will take longer and I really have to keep on track with work, so still sitting in front of the pc, I googled myself.

Yes, you read it right, google… well its a word now and according to the Online Webster Dictionary (I googled the site as well)which means to search the Web using the Google search engine. Anyways, I found myself with .”..about 2,880,000 for Judith Hunt“. wow, that’s actually a lot and I only get to see 3 pages before I stop. Although, I’m happy to say that me myself and I was in the first result as the photographer and my site there as well. (although I think it could be because I am using my personal pc which really stores some cookies that will have me as the closest result). I range from photographer, to OBE, to author, to counselor, to speaker and a lot more. Surprisingly which, I have dreamt to become one or the other when I was little.

Then, of course, since this is my married name, I googled myself on my maiden name, which is Judith Faustino and found myself back in my hometown in my high school database, also a few pages after is linked to the current married name. How cool is that? Or is that just tells me I spend too much time on the World Wide Web that I have just documented my life all over it?Hmm…. interesting!

Anyways, back to work now and just because my post would not be complete without a photo, here is my latest self portrait which is taken late last year. I really need to have a new one, maybe after I get my haircut, my hair just doesn’t work for me now.

I plan to share some more photos from the weekend but I just have to share this photo which is a favourite of mine. I took a series of these photos and just loved them all, I used one of my favourite texture on this photo and just love it.

I have my weeks ahead so full with editing and finishing the photos from the last workshop and getting a CD ready for FORM. I am starting to get on top of things now with list all printed and reminding me in order of the things I need to do first, so bear with me as I get some things finish and then more news on this side of things.

Well, this snazzy little number is made from a pattern by yours truly, yay! This is the second attempt, with minor adjustments with the straps, I made it long enough to look like a dress. (The first one is too short, which will now be a skirt).
