About last year, I succumbed to the soft feel of film and bought myself a Diana F+ camera. It was such an overwhelming feeling that I wouldn’t be able to see what I have just taken. It felt so funny of actually holding the plastic camera in my hand. So I took a playful approach and just point, set the camera and shoot and just hope that a photo will come out.

Today, I picked up my first ever film from the lab and yay, I got some photos back. LOL! It’s funny how that was a relief!

So here are some photos from my first random film shoot! First one is from my first ever slide. The first photo I’ve taken in East Perth.

Here are my beloved models from last year in Perth.

This one is from our last trip to the Pinnacles with some friends.

This one is at the Australia Zoo last January. A quick snap of the snake in the water.

And my favourite is my last slide. At the Midland Atelier last weekend!

Love the soft feel to the photos!

NOTE: None of these are edited in Photoshop except resize for web and added the white frame.

After waiting a few months, finally, lomography is in Perth and it happened in Midland last weekend. I am so glad to get in the first workshop in Midland. Eversince I got my Diana F+, I wanted to get to know what Lomography is all about. It is so exciting to shoot a scene and not be able to see the results at the back of your camera and wonder if I even got a photo on my film. I got some slides at the lab at the moment and the suspense is so great that I am not even sure if I will see any photos on them at all. Isn’t that great?

The weekend was fantastic. I have learned a lot and met a lot of like-minded photographers. We got to play with some lomography cameras and also went around Midland Atelier and got some photos of our own from our very own Holga camera!

I would like to give a shout out to FORM for organising the workshop. They are the best! So go to their website and unleash your creativity.

Here is the office of FORM in Midland.

Since the introduction of blogging, I will admit that I am pretty addicted to them. I have read and visited hundreds of blogs from photography, crafting, sewing, Scrapbooking, cooking to personal interior design blogs. I love reading through each post and learn something about the blogger. I love dissecting and admiring the photos that usually accompany each post. It is like a window to their lives. And I can get glimpses to the kind of lives they live. I have found so many favourites and there are some that have become a daily read.

While reading one of my favourite blogs this week, I come across a project that photographers are currently on where each week has a theme that they can interpret with their photos and share on their blog then tag another photographer. But since I am so late as they are already on week 35, I am adapting the idea to get myself into the shooting mode (for fun). I’ve been thinking of ways to get back into shooting that can just give me a little bit of boost to get my mojo back! So here is the idea.

Every friday, I will have a theme and will post a photo of my interpretation of that theme. And if you would like to join me, let me know in the comments section so I can add you to my daily blog visits.

I will start posting the photos next friday as it seems to be too late for today. But here are some photos of my little tara with her good friend the last time they had a play over at our house.

Aren’t girls just the cutest?

In my mind, I am getting used to the idea when the day comes that I unpack the last box. Today, I unpack the boxes for my photography business and have put them in my office, so officially I am now in business just because my business cards are out and will start to circulate around, my paperworks have been put away neatly in my new office bookcase. And even if the little details are being sorted out, in my mind, I am now officially moved!

I will now be servicing the Swan Valley, with my office in Ellenbrook. I am looking forward to building new relationships with new clients in Ellenbrook.

From one spectacular place to another. After living in the Pilbara for quite some time, I am a bit sad to say goodbye to the amazing place and people but also happy to be living in a place that is opposite to the red dust of Port Hedland. It’s the Swan Valley! Here, there are land upon land of green and lush lawns and bushes. I am quite excited to be able to capture this quite picturesque place.

We stayed for a month in The Vines Resort and of course I have to go explore the surroundings and capture a few shots. My models are no other than my kids, naturally!!

Enjoy the photos and so glad to be back doing what I love doing.

This is somewhat a late posting of a collaboration that I am proud to be in. She is fantastic at creating a place that you won’t even think would be possible in the Pilbara for your special day. Need I say more? Here is an excerpt from her brochure,

“With a sense of flair and exquisite attention to detail, Pilbara Weddings works with Brides and Grooms to plan, style and decorate weddings as unique and memorable as the Western Australian outback. Many couples do not have the desire, time or budget to travel to Perth, interstate or overseas for their wedding – and nor do their guests! Having established themselves in Pilbara communities Pilbara Pairs want to share a stylish and memorable day with family and friends in the place that they have lived and loved.

From Karratha to Broome or Newman to Tom Price, Pilbara Weddings can and do turn dreams into reality.

We provide full planning, styling and hire options to create a perfect wedding. Relaxed beachside nuptials, formal receptions under starlit skies, charming rustic picnics or elegant affairs in silk lined marquees are all possible. ‘Altar your thinking’….give Pilbara Weddings a call”

Leanne is fabulous and does an even fabulous job at making your wedding a very memorable and special day! Here are some photos from her previous weddings.

It was a quiet June morning and I was on my computer (as usual) working on some photos with facebook open on the side (a girl needs some sort of a backup entertainment), then I received the call from the police (uh-oh, of course, he assured me almost straightaway I’m not in trouble, wheww!) and asked me to donate my time for the Police Legacy celebration starting with the 20/20 cricket and then the Police Ball, and I said, absolutely yes.

When the day arrived, it was just perfect and just right, not too cold and not too hot, a little bit of breeze and a good turnaround. I think I began to enjoy and learn more about cricket than ever before. Well I do ask my loving husband but he simply just gives me the description of what it is expecting I understand it (and I’m like, what overs? what wicket? what’s 20/20? ). So like always, I succumbed to find the right description from the net and this is what I’ve found.

“You have two sides, one out in the field and one in.
Each man that’s in the side that’s in goes out, and when
he’s out he comes in and the next man goes in until he’s
out. When they are all out, the side that’s out comes in
and the side that’s been in goes out and tries to get
those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in
and not out. When a man goes out to go in, the men who
are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes
in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two
men called umpires who stay all out the time and they
decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides
have been in and all the men have been given out, and
both sides have been out twice after all the men have
been in, including those who are not out, that is the
end of the game!”

Hmmm… that is so much easier to understand.

I will have the photos from the 20/20 match up in the next few days together with the slideshow, for now, here is just a teaser from the day with a photo of the special guest.

As much as the school holidays is highly anticipated both by my kids and me, I got tons of things to do from packing, shifting and moving. We are not moving town but the time has come when we say yae and nae to some things that are accumulating in the shed.

But here is great news for all of you who have always wanted to get some great portraits of your little ones especially with their siblings.

If you are interested, gather two or three mums who would like to get their kids some portraits. The session will go from 15 to 30 minutes for each family and should be held on the second week of school holidays which is 13th-17th July 2010. Contact me if you are interested and I will give you all the details.

I am excited about something I’ve just got in the mail but that will have to wait until the next post. Have a great school holidays and stay safe!

As the home entertainment scene seem to advance faster and faster before anyone can say ‘plasma television’, the introduction of three dimensional television has took the technology advancement market by storm. Now watching 3D TV has been the greatest milestone since the introduction of coloured television in the 70s. Wheww, we can’t even keep up, not to mention that it can be quite exorbitant to just have a decent home theatre system. I can’t help myself but think ‘what’s next?’ Will there be flying cars soon? or maybe people zooming around on their flying scooter? ok, maybe that’s just going overboard from the many sci-fi movies around.

Anyways, this fast technology advancement can also be seen not only in the normal household but also in photography. From the launch of digital camera to the high end medium format cameras, to the introduction of flash html for websites. Not to mention, the development of social networking. I’ve delayed, deliberated and waited but now I took the plunge and made my own facebook fanpage a while back. It would be a cool and different way to connect to everyone and I want to be able to grow this network with friends, clients and friends of clients, so come and join me on the page.

So come and join me here. Have a great week ahead!
