As much as the school holidays is highly anticipated both by my kids and me, I got tons of things to do from packing, shifting and moving. We are not moving town but the time has come when we say yae and nae to some things that are accumulating in the shed.

But here is great news for all of you who have always wanted to get some great portraits of your little ones especially with their siblings.

If you are interested, gather two or three mums who would like to get their kids some portraits. The session will go from 15 to 30 minutes for each family and should be held on the second week of school holidays which is 13th-17th July 2010. Contact me if you are interested and I will give you all the details.

I am excited about something I’ve just got in the mail but that will have to wait until the next post. Have a great school holidays and stay safe!

Now watching 3D TV has been the greatest milestone since the introduction of coloured television in the 70s. Wheww, we can’t even keep up, not to mention that it can be quite exorbitant to just have a decent home theatre system. I can’t help myself but think ‘what’s next?’ Will there be flying cars soon? or maybe people zooming around on their flying scooter? ok, maybe that’s just going overboard from the many sci-fi movies around.

Anyways, this fast technology advancement can also be seen not only in the normal household but also in photography. From the launch of digital camera to the high end medium format cameras, to the introduction of flash html for websites. Not to mention, the development of social networking. I’ve delayed, deliberated and waited but now I took the plunge and made my own facebook fanpage a while back. It would be a cool and different way to connect to everyone and I want to be able to grow this network with friends, clients and friends of clients, so come and join me on the page.

So come and join me here. Have a great week ahead!

Ok, it’s not that it’s really nothing kind of days but more like I can’t do anything really. I am not feeling the greatest with a horrible ‘pain’ and see myself curled up on the couch with some heat pads. And as much as I like to do something like probably dusting the house or doing the laundry to be productive, I have to stay on the couch (the least) and try to get better.

I have always wanted to try and play with some new actions and today gave me the chance to do it. Totally Rad Actions really rocks!!! totally! And the actions are so easy to use and very customisable to what you want. Totally rocking in my books.

This photos uses the TRA super fun happy and contrast (TRA volume 1)

The next photo uses TRA black and white with a boost on contrast and saturation before.

Just to note that I do not like to spend too much time on processing my images so I make it a point to get the photo right as perfectly as possible in camera, but sometimes a little boost is needed to make it really great, and that I use my favourite actions from MCP, Kubota and now TRA. Yay for great actions. Happy Thursday!

Today was his school athletics carnival and although the weather was playing a bit with us today with fog covering the school and oval early in the morning, it ended as a really hot day. It was great to see them having a great time cheering and playing sports.

I took this photo of my grown boy with his newly earned hat.

It happened over lunch yesterday afternoon. My lack of mojo amidst the mountain of things to do from all over the place, need something to boost my passion back to my blog and my stories and photos. So, I jumped into reconstruction mode and re-designed my blog from colours to style. I call this the “elegant and simple blog” (very technical right?), and my “brown swirlies blog” is taking a much deserved holiday (If only I could too!).

What started to be an online journal of my life just evolved to my crafts, passions and desires and has been a mix of portfolio, stories, scrapbooks and personal photo album (and now will include some of what my hands been up to in sewing).

There will probably be a few more tweaks to do from here and there but here it is, a new design.

But of course, I always get the usual hurdle in the way and this time is my twitter batch on the top. I have signed in and out, removed and installed back the widgets and re-typed all the info but still my tweets are not showing. Ahhh… I will have to just go back to it later on, maybe after focusing on another thing, it will be clearer to what I am missing here.

Just a few things….

* If you like to subscribe to my blog through e-mail, the link is on the top menu.

* Join me on facebook by clicking the like box on my bio area at the top. I do really need more friends. the more the merrier.

* The Comments section is actually really cute when its filled with comments So let me know what you think of the new look. It is formatted very easily so anyone can leave comments with just a few clicks.

* a new list of portfolio will soon be on its way.

*this post will be on top for a few days so scroll down to check out new posts.

Finally, thank you for everyone who’s been following my blog and reading it. Have a great Thursday!

i’m still here although the lack of updates on the blog can only suggest one thing, that life got the better of me, from motherhood to personal stuff. Not that I have been very busy but there is always things to do and attend to. And because I only take a few bookings for portraits and commercial shoots, i have more time to spend with my family. As this is my last year before my youngest goes to school, i like spending the days with her whilst josh is in school and just slow down and watch movies and stuff.

It’s been kind of an eclectic past few weeks with my attention going to different kinds of stuff, i had a week of reading investment and tax, then another week focusing on photography, and more days focusing on sewing and craft. It’s no wonder that i get so muddled on most days.

I started sewing last year (more like dived into it) and i find it really rewarding and satisfying especially when my little girl loves the clothes i make for her and enjoy wearing them, here is one of my creations – a reversible pinafore dress. Whoever invented the reversible dresses is a genius, as much as we try to keep her nice and clean all day, she just gets too dirty by mid morning and of course the red dirt around doesn’t help much.

And a couple of shots of the two kiddies.

Although not much photography related posts here, i appreciate you reading my blog. More coming soon.

Have a great weekend ahead!

Right from the time when I was still very much confident that my wispy curly fringe is the next best thing to pop music (ok, that was then), I have been so fascinated with the written word. I remember getting into a lot of trouble for not finishing my house chore, or burning lunch or dinner that I am suppose to be watching just because I was so absorbed in what I was reading. I still very acutely recall all the times I saved every cent I had to buy another instalment of Nancy Drew or Sweet Valley pocketbooks, that when I first get one, I would skim through the pages and just smell that wonderful scent of a new book, its crisp pages and its hard covers. I would take care of my books so much that it was so impossible to part with them even when someone borrows them.

From the mysteries of Nancy Drew to the young love of Sweet Dreams, then to more intense literature from all over the world as I finish my English degree to now very different genre of topics, my taste in literature has been immensely limited due to time and current life.

Just as eclectic as I am, I read books from photography, parenting, psychology all the way to life and spirituality. Here are a few that tickle my fancy.

And I had the pleasure of spending the morning with little Issy and her gorgeous little sister, Emily. It is always a fun day playing and getting to know little kids especially little girls. Here is a sneak peek of our session this morning.

Thank you for the fun morning.

As much as I would like to write a full post as much as I can during the week, things have gotten in the way and my mind is just full of random things. Most of the things I needed to do in the last 3 days have been put aside to nurse a very throbbing and unpleasant pain in my abdomen but don’t worry I am much better now. As I go around the house, tidying here and there, and enjoying Monday holiday with the kids, I picked up the book I recently borrowed from the library, “Rich Dad, poor Dad”. I have read this book almost a decade ago and since my mind has been inundated with finance, budgeting and mortgage the last few months, I thought I’d re-acquaint myself again with the ideas in this book. It is a good read and in much, very encouraging especially if you seek financial security which I think many of us would like to be in, that is, financial security. So I thought I’d share with you the popular poem that was in the book which is also one of my favourites.

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as fas as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads onto way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence;

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I –

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

Robert Frost 1916

We are overwhelmed with choices everyday from personal to business to finance. I remember this poem as I make some important choices for me and my family, and also just because I enjoy this literature.

Note: Wedding season is upon us and there is only a few more spots that I am taking for this year, so reserve your date now.

Wow, first of all, thank you for visiting my blog and commenting. I love to read all the memories you would like captured to remind you of the people in your life. I spent a while reading every comment and I think if I can give each one a book, I would but of course I only have one spare book to giveaway.

There are many aspects of our lives that sometimes get taken for granted, especially the simple everyday things that we do. When I first got into photography, I knew I wanted to capture my kids while they were young and the many little things they surprise me with. This book guides you through all your memories that you like captured and kept in a scrapbook, whether you want just a simple scrapbook or a really detailed embellished one. The big picture book, not only, helps you to scrapbook your life, but also takes you to your creative journey in life.

After reading all the comments, and still undecided, I asked for my son’s help to choose a number between 1 and 13 and he chose 10. So, the big picture book goes to:
Lee Mills – My father in law recently had by-pass surgery, he was operated on a special day, his 63rd wedding anniversary, the look of love that they shared after his operation was priceless, made me think how precious gandparents are…my girls are lucky enough to have both sets still…what a wonderful photo that would be..to capture the look of love..young and old!

Congratulations Lee, send me an email of you postal address so I can send you the book. Also a huge thank you to Mel for giving my giveaway a shout out on her blog. Thank you to everyone who participated, please do come and visit again.

Have a great week ahead.

NOTE: This blog giveaway is now closed. Winner will be announced tomorrow. Thank you for participating.

before I started my journey in photography, keeping and sharing memories have always been my passion, I have kept scrapbooks since I was little and went into scrapbooking full time before the kids came, although now I do scrapbooks just for myself. I have

But for those who are following my blog and are not from Hedland, here is a chance for you to get your hands on this fabulous, awesome book by Stacy Julian. I am giving away The Big Picture for FREE!

All you have to do is leave a comment below about your favourite memory that you would like captured on camera. (photos) It can be anything. I will choose the winner on Sunday at 5 pm WST.

So I will start; I would like a professional family portrait of my family now while the kids are still young to remind me of our times with them because kids grow up too quick, and I would like to see that in print.
